Caley & Sean are wonderful. There isn’t a better word. I first met them a couple years ago when I did their engagement photos at Goldstream Park, Victoria, BC. They are both so happy and just being around them puts you in a good mood. I was really excited to shoot their wedding as I knew it was going to be amazing and it sure didn’t disappoint! Their wedding definitely tops my list as one of my favorites I have ever shot. It was beautiful, very well planned, personal and filled with unique and creative touches. Caley is the ultimate wedding planner, man was she organized! She had excel spread sheets galore with schedules and all sorts of important info that made the day run smooth without any glitches.
I love working with fellow photographer Jade of Jade’s Photography; she is excellent and we work well together…and this wedding was one we tag teamed. When we work together I get to shoot the groomsmen which is one of my favorite things to do because it’s always a bit more funky and we can try some offbeat things. We had so much fun and got some really cool shots. I met the guys in a trendy apartment downtown Victoria where they all got dressed in colourful ties and socks. Sean was a very thoughtful Groom and had awesome gifts for the guys: Pocket watches with their initials engraved on them! He also had custom cuff links made which were very cool. We had some time to walk about the streets and get some shots in Sean’s brother Daniel’s building that was just across the street. We hung out in the lounge and shot some pool which created a really awesome vibe for the shots. Once it was time to go we headed to the ceremony at Villa Marco Pollo. AMAZING. The decorations were beautiful, the dessert station was colourful and charming, they even had baskets of cold beverages out for the guests, so thoughtful! The venue itself was beautiful, but Caley & Sean really made it extraordinary.
These two said their own personalized vows and WOW were they ever awesome. Beautiful and so sentimental I think I almost cried myself, the parents were definitely holding tissues! Once the ceremony was complete we headed to Government house for some bridal party shots in the garden, then I snuck away with the bride and groom to the Victoria Golf Club course for some couples shots on the greens, what a beautful course! It was so windy we kept almost losing Caley’s veil, but we made it work and got some fantastic shots. It was so easy to photograph these two because they are so comfortable with each other, I hardly had to give them any direction.
Finally we ended at the reception, also at the Victoria Golf Club and after dinner we snuck out for a couple abstract night shots. I really enjoyed photographing their wedding and I hope to work with them again 🙂
